TIPS ON HOW TO FIND YOUR LOST PET

Losing a pet can be a heart breaking experience. But never fear as help is here! Here are a few tips to get you on the way to be reunited with your pet.

  • Notify friends, family and neighbours. Search your area thoroughly especially in the evening as most pets get frightened during the daytime and hide as a result of that.
  • Advertise in local papers. Don’t wait for the finder to advertise your pet as lost as this may take too long and your pet will be left astray for longer.
  • Place posters in the vicinity where your pet was lost. Have details on the poster of what your pet's name is, a photo, contact number and when it was lost. This information could jog people’s memories.
  • Go to the animal shelters in your area as soon as possible as someone may have found your pet and handed it in.
  • Don't think your pet will come home on its own. Sometimes they do, but you cannot take a chance. Keep looking and get other people to help.
  • Many times, animals have been found wandering the streets for weeks before being picked up by Animal Control or by a member of the public who has held the dog for some time before turning it in.
  • Talk to the local delivery people, mail carriers, oil, gas and electric company workmen and ask them to keep an eye out for the dog. Make sure you give them the details of your pet.
Lastly don’t worry yourself too much, someone or something out there will help you trace down your pet and hopefully you will be REUNITED with your loved one.

Just DON’T give up. Your pet is out there somewhere trying to find you as you are finding your pet. Think positive about the situation, as it’s the best way to go.
