GOING ON HOLIDAY - TIPS FOR YOUR PET SITTER ..
Planning on jetting off to somewhere hot and exotic?
Just take a moment to consider your pets. Have you arranged a pet sitter
yet? You wouldn’t want a part of the family to be left home alone with
no food, water and most importantly company, would you? If your pet
is staying at home with someone you know and trust, here are a few facts,
which you should take into consideration.
Let your pet sitter know:
- Where you keep your pet food. Always tell your pet sitter where the
food is, as the person may not know and your pet will not be very happy!
- When to feed your pet. People feed their pets at different times
and it is important to inform the pet sitter when your pet needs feeding.
- How much to feed it. If your pet is on a special diet, make sure
your pet sitter knows about this.
- When or if your pet needs to go out. Some pets need exercise and
some pets do not. Tell your pet sitter this information.
- Make sure all doors and windows are closed. When not at home or even
when at home, as most pets will use it as an escape route!
- Keep all electrical products safe and out of site. Electrical cords
can be very tempting to pets as something to chew on, which can result
in electrocution.
- Contact numbers. Leave important phone numbers such as your local
veterinary or the RSPCA in case of emergencies.
Our Web searcher Cave Man from PHA was given the task of
looking after his friend’s dog whilst his friend was on holiday (bad idea!).
Unfortunately 3 days after Cave Man’s friend went away, he opened the back
door to let the dog out for some fresh air, turned his back for two minutes
and he was gone! So just remember to follow the guidelines above and these
situations can be avoided.
Last but not least, enjoy your Holiday. I know you will be worried about
your pet but that’s only natural. Just pass on these simple notes to your
trustworthy pet sitter so they have a guideline on how to take care of
your loved ones!
Just one more thing you must remember. Your pet is part of your family.
Just because you can’t take them with you they are still there. So a nice
pet present from your holiday in the sunshine will let your pet know how
much you REALLY LOVE them.
